The month of March continues with project specific activities, but also with new activities carried out by the newly hired speech therapist expert within the project “We invest in inclusive education!”.
It has been a very productive month: briefing sessions with the teachers, one-on-one meetings with the parents of children with speech disorders, recruitment of new beneficiaries, individual speech therapy sessions, leisure activities, personal development activities.
Discovering many children with language disorders through our project activities, it was evident the need to reinforce the team with an expert speech therapist to work with these children and thus help them pronounce words correctly, read and write as correctly as possible.
What are the objectives of speech therapy sessions?
- To detect, assess and identify of language and communication disorders;
- To direct speech therapy towards correction, recovery, compensation, adaptation and integration at school and in society;
- To correct language and communication disorders in order to reduce the risk of school failure;
- To support teachers in their personalised approach to pupils with speech and communication disorders.
The work of the speech therapist is time-consuming, but with the cooperation of the teachers, the help of the parents and the involvement of the children, this work will bring huge rewards for all parties involved. Teachers and children have welcomed this new specialist with enthusiasm, the children’s parents have been delighted to have such support in the school and they have even come in large numbers to request speech therapy sessions for the children.
